Community growth is inevitable—but having a voice in that growth is essential. JD Wms Diversity Group recently hosted a free, interactive Remake Learning Days event that brought together families, organizations, and community members to explore the legacy of cooperative economics.
Titled “Africa to African American: Legacy of Cooperative Economics,” the event highlighted how communities build wealth, resilience, and sustainability through collaboration.

Participants experienced a unique blend of cultural history and hands-on learning. Presenters shared powerful insights:
Cheryl Coleman explored the historical roots of cooperative economics and its role in building strong communities
Osa Atoe demonstrated cultural expression through live pottery
UF/IFAS Extension Master Gardeners led hands-on activities connecting sustainability and shared resources
Connections were made. Organizations collaborated. Conversations were sparked.
This is the essence of cooperative economics, working together for shared benefit.
The event reinforced an important truth: diversity strengthens communities, and collaboration creates pathways for sustainable growth.
As we build on this momentum, JD Wms Diversity Group continues to create opportunities that connect community development with small business growth.
